The 1st International Workshop on "Generalizing knowledge: from Machine Learning and Knowledge Representation to the Semantic Web" (GenSW2017)
GenSW2017 is co-located with "The 16th International Conference of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence" (AI*IA 2017), that will take place in Bari, Italy, 14 - 17 November 2017.
The workshop is meant to be a forum for scientific exchange among researchers interested in the topic of generalization of knowledge descriptions represented in standard Semantic Web representation languages.
The workshop addresses an interdisciplinary research field in Artificial Intelligence, at the intersection of the Semantic Web with Machine Learning and Knowledge Representation.
The main goal of the workshop is to foster the development of methods which actually cope with the inherent peculiarities of the scenario to be addressed: the methods should be able to manage, and possibly scale over, very large data collections, that may be inaccurate, redundant, noisy and inconsistent.
Methods traditionally proposed for generalization in Machine Learning and Knowledge Representation, can certainly work as a very important starting point.
Nevertheless, such methods need to be re-thought and newly designed to address all the above mentioned peculiarities and issues.
